¡Pura Vida!

Hi all!

We are having a fabtastic time in Costa Rica. We stayed in the Chilamate Ecolodge on Friday night and started Saturday with a nature walk in the beautiful Chilamate rainforest.  After our walk, we spotted a hidden sloth, and then we enjoyed sweet coconuts and learned about the uses of various bitter Costa Rican plants while sitting on the banks of the Sarapiqui River. We played fútbol and painted some awesome handmade pots with a local artisan before driving to Lago Jalapa to meet our amazing host families. We enjoyed getting to know our “Tico” families on Saturday night, and on Sunday morning, we went on a boat tour of Lago Jalapa. Today we washed various-sized rocks, painted the doors, and dug holes as part of our project for a local school and also had time to get to know the adorable students. Next, the group travelled back to Chilamate to go for a quick swim, which was refreshing after working in the heat all morning. Lastly, we had a magical experience chocolate farm and got to test chocolate in all of its stages leading up to its final candy bar stage–delicioso! More to come soon!
